Senior Police Officer Carl Smith
Senior Police Officer Carl Smith has worked Law Enforcement for 24 years, the past 17 years in the field of Narcotics. Carl Smith honorably discharged from the U.S. Army in January of 1992, and soon after went to work for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice in Navasota, Texas. While working at the Pac I Prison Unit, Carl applied at the Houston Police Department, and entered Academy Class #150 in August of 1992
Northeast Patrol Station is where Carl Smith was assigned from 1993-2000. Officer Smith worked on The Gang Task Force, The Northeast Tactical Team, and Northeast Power shift. In 1994 Officer Smith was one of the first Officers in the Houston Police Department to successfully work Highway Interdiction, seizing numerous loads of narcotics and currency from smugglers on the highway. In 2000 Officer Carl Smith transferred to the Narcotics Division. Since 2000, Carl Smith has worked street level narcotics, mid-level narcotics, Hotel/Motel interdiction, Airport interdiction, and is currently assigned to Houston HIDTA (T.A.R.P.) Bus Interdiction Team.
Officer Smith is a Master Peace Officer, and is a certified TCOLE Instructor in the State of Texas. Officer Smith teaches classes on a regular basis for The El Paso Intelligence Center (EPIC), and the International Narcotics Interdiction Association (INIA).
Carl Smith also has taught classes for Texas Narcotics Officers Association (TNOA), and The Motor Vehicle Carriers Interdiction Association (MVCI). In 2015, Carl Smith Co-founded Behavioral And Interactive Training Specialist (BAITS Training).
Carl is a Proud Veteran of the U.S. Army, where he served with the 10th Mountain Light Infantry Division from 1988-1992.
